Geoff Zatkin
Geoffrey Zatkin serves as President and COO of Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (EEDAR), a business intelligence company that empowers investors, publishers and developers to make informed decisions about the games they are creating and the capital being spent to produce them. Co-founding the company in 2006, he directs the development of EEDAR’s current and future business intelligence product line including management of all data collected for use in EEDAR’s commercial research papers and analytic services.
In addition to his work with EEDAR, Geoffrey has more than a decade’s worth of video game industry experience, performed in lead and senior design roles for both international corporate entertainment conglomerates and independent development studios.
Before co-founding EEDAR, Geoffrey was a lead game designer for Monolith Productions, working as the point man on DC Comics Online and assisting slightly with the development of The Matrix Online.
Geoffrey came to Monolith Productions as a senior game designer from Sony Online Entertainment (formerly Verant Interactive), where he worked six intense years on the original EverQuest, EverQuest: The Ruins of Kunark, EverQuest II and Sovereign.
Geoffrey specializes in the evolution of game design and emerging technology trends for the computer and video game industry, with a particular emphasis on Massively Multiplayer games, feature identification/categorization and feature trending.
Geoffrey has been interviewed for numerous publications including National Public Radio: All Things Considered & Marketplace, the Los Angeles Times, the San Diego Union Tribune, the San Diego Reader, Gamasutra, Game Biz Daily, Game Informer, Penny Arcade, WebTV and countless MMOG websites. He has presented at such locations as GDC (Game Developer's Conference), ION/OGDC, E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), Mi6, the Sony Wonder Building, University of California San Diego, University of California Irvine, University of Southern California, DigiPen and PAX (Penny Arcade Expo).
Geoffrey has a background is in psychology, video games and pop culture, and is currently living in San Diego with his wife and two cats.
